Title: The Listening Game
Objective: To help participants understand the importance of active listening and communication.
Materials:
• A pen and paper for each participant
• A list of questions
Instructions:
1. Divide the participants into pairs.
2. Give each pair a pen and paper.
3. Explain that one person will be the speaker and the other person will be the listener.
4. The speaker will choose one question from the list and answer it while the listener actively listens.
5. The listener will then summarize what the speaker said and ask a follow-up question.
6. The roles will then switch, and the listener becomes the speaker, and the speaker becomes the listener.
7. Repeat the process with a new question.
8. After a few rounds, gather everyone together and ask for volunteers to share what they learned about their partner.
Questions:
1. What is your favorite childhood memory?
2. What are your goals for the future?
3. What is something that makes you happy?
4. What is a challenge you have overcome?
5. What is something you are passionate about?
Lesson Learned:
Through this activity, participants will learn the importance of active listening and effective communication. They will learn how to listen attentively to others, summarize what they have heard, and ask thoughtful follow-up questions. They will also learn the value of being slow to speak and slow to become angry, as stated in James 1:19.
Call to Action:
Encourage participants to practice active listening and effective communication in their everyday lives. Encourage them to take the time to listen attentively to others and to communicate clearly and effectively. By doing so, they can build stronger relationships and avoid misunderstandings.
"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry." - James 1:19"
